Microbial portraits, 2016

Skin microbiome, agar, polycarbonate

Who is I, if beneath the face you know as your own, is colonized by a constellation of microbial communities known as the skin microbiota? The face is home to not just the Self, but also to millions of microorganisms. Some of the inhabitants are the corynebacterineae, propionibacterineae, and staphylococcaceae. Microbial Portraits reveals another layer in identity, one that is rendered by a biodiverse ecology that each one of us gives life to.
